Gaming Laptops. Many gamers argue that using a laptop to game is pointless and that you are somewhat of a lesser human being for doing so. My opinion is gaming laptops are incredibly handy, and can actually be cheaper than buying a full on gaming desktop.
Obviously laptops have their downside, overheating, smaller screen, however they also provide a great bonus to the users, as you can transport your laptop anywhere, game from hotels, coffee shops even outdoors. A good gaming laptop will not overheat, and will disperse the heat effectively so that you don’t end up frying your motherboard or other components.
I have personally tested tons of them and I have narrowed down my personal 3 favorite gaming laptops that I believe will be best suited to most gamers with affordable pricing.
Origin are known for their powerful custom gaming desktops, but this laptop is no different. Featuring an Intel Core I7-4790K at 4GHz which is insane by any standards. The CPU alone makes this laptop one of a kind, and an extremely good choice to pick from, but the graphics card: Nvidia Geforce GTX980M with 8GB of GDDR5 RAM makes this an even more of a fantastic machine. You also have backup graphics of the Intel HD Graphics 4600.
Memory on this laptop is at 8GB which is actually on the lower end, but still more than enough to run almost every game at high levels of settings. The screen size is 15.6 inches, which again isn’t the biggest but is enough for any gamer. The monitor also has 1920×1080 resolution and supports 1080p video format.
Storage on this beast is amazing. You have a 240GB SSD which provides lightning fast storage of both the operating system and any other programme you wish to run at quick speeds. It also has a 1TB hard-drive for files that you feel don’t deserve the faster loading speeds of the SSD.
Overall this laptop is a perfect choice from any avid to experienced gamer. It features a DESKTOP GRADE CPU, something that is very rarely seen in portable machines, and does not have overheating issues even though it has these components.
Gigabyte P35X v5
Another amazing laptop coming from the manufacturer Gigabyte. This laptop has the power to run 4K resolutions, which is very rare in desktop computers nowadays and almost never seen in laptops.
Although the CPU is somewhat of a downgrade from the EON15-X as it only supports 2.6GHz on an Intel Core I7-6700HQ, the loss is certainly displaced with the gain of a huge 3840 x 2160 resolution, also known as 4K. The graphics card is similar to the Origin laptop with a GTX 980M, which is what is needed to support this huge resolution.
The screen is a UHD(Ultra-High-Definition) so the support is there for the 4K content. This is really the main component of this laptop that makes it amazing and stands it out from others.
RAM is almost double at 16GB of DDR4 RAM. This amount is actually way too much, and you will never need the full resource, however if your going to keep using this machine in the future, then the 16GB will come in handy as newer games and software is released that requires such a large capacity of resources.
Storage is the same as the Origin laptop above. 256GB SSD for all of your software applications that require quick loading speeds and a 1TB HDD to support all of your files requiring slower loading speeds.
On the whole I would definitely recommend this to gamers who love crystal clear image quality, or video editors who can take use of the huge resolutions.
Lenovo Ideapad Y700
Our final recommendation comes from Lenovo. Lenovo make tons of gaming laptops at the lower end of the spectrum, however the Y700 is a powerful machine. Supporting a 2.6GHz Intel Core I7-6700HQ, which provides more than enough processing power for any avid gamers needs.
A slight downgrade graphics wise compared to the two competitors above with a Nvidia Geforce GTX 960M which only has 4GB of DDR5 video RAM, but when it comes to memory, the Y700 has 16GB of DDR4 at 2133MHz which is tons! This amount of memory will be more than enough for all games in 2016, and will definitely be effective for video processing, or any other activities that require tons of memory.
The screen size is 15.6 inches and does not support 4K, however it has the basic 1920×1080 resolution.
Storage sizes are slightly smaller on this laptop, with only a 128GB SSD. So do not expect to have too many games running off your SSD, but it still has a 1TB HDD in the back-end which is more than enough to run any programme off of. This laptop also seems to have been made in the future when it comes to batteries, as the battery life is awesome and long lasting and will last you much longer than other competitors.
A slight downside when it comes to this Lenovo laptop is the overheating issues. Sometimes the laptop can get very hot if not placed on a flat cool surface. We recommend you add a laptop cooling stand to place the laptop on when you are using it, to make sure that your precious components inside do not suffer any wear and tear.
