Gigabyte Aivia Krypton Gaming Mouse Review

Buying a gaming mouse is a tough decision to make as there are so many available in the market, each with a different brand and a different type. The one which contains all the essential requirements of gaming yet can be bought at a reasonable price is the Gigabyte Aivia Krypton Gaming Mouse. The pricing reflects only half of other mice such as the Razer Mamba.

Design

The GM-Krypton has an ambidextrous body with the same number of buttons on either side. Each rubber coated side comes with three buttons, with the one closer to the tip acting as profile user switch.

On top of the mouse is the scroll wheel, and right below it is the traditional resolution switch, edged with two tiny LED bars. The end of the torso contains the Krypton logo.

Features

The main characteristic of GM-Krypton is interchangeable under plates on the bottom. When they are removed, they expose the weight adjustment system with ten holes of tiny weights. The weights vary from 0.06 oz. (four silver weights) to 0.18 oz. (six black weights).

Among the numerous under plates, one of them has the traditional set of Teflon feet, which provides more controlled sliding. The extra under plate consists of a set of ceramic feet for high speed on the mousepad.

The Avago ADNS-9800 laser sensor can measure a maximum sensitivity of 8,200 DPI. The sensitivity can be adjusted in four stages by the user (800 DPI, 1600 DPI, 3200 DPI, and 5600 DPI). The sensitivity level can be determined by the number of LEDs lit on the little bars.

The GM-Krypton has a frame rate of 1,200 frames/second and a maximum tracking speed of 150 inches/second.

Performance

The ambidextrous design of the GM-Krypton with its well-placed buttons makes the mouse suitable for both claw and palm grippers.

The great feature of the mouse is its interchangeable under plates. Which one needs to be used is determined by three factors: the user’s gaming style, whether the user owns a gaming-grade mousepad, and the material of the mousepad. Higher sensitivities with ceramic feet under plate result in the smooth running of the mouse over the mousepad and is best for big monitors and games with intense action moves. On the other hand, at lower sensitivity with Teflon fleet under the plate, the mouse results in high-end precision gaming, ideal for sniping. As the change of under plates is fast, they can be changed when the game is being loaded.
