As a gamer myself, I have decided to review a few of what I think are the best gaming keyboards out there so that you can make an educated decision for yourself before your next purchase.

Best Gaming Keyboard
Corsair Gaming K95 RGB
Top Features of the Corsair Gaming K95 RGB
Unique Backlighting Customization
One of the coolest things about the Corsair Gaming K95 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is something that might not strike you as useful right away. I didn’t think much of it at first; I thought that the feature I am about to talk about was more for looks and for show than anything. That said, this keyboard comes with multi-color, per-key binding. I can choose from a sprawling assortment of colors on a wide spectrum and assign each different individual key its own unique color for essentially unlimited customization choices. While this definitely makes my Corsair Gaming K95 RGB stand out visually among other gaming keyboards that my friends have, it also allows me to gain a better understanding of which key I am pressing. This allows me to bind keys to every single key, and if I am unsure of what key bind I am aiming for, all it takes is a quick look down at the keyboard to find the designated color and then I can get my eyes back on my screen right away while executing the bind. This has really made me more efficient as a gamer and this may be the best gaming keyboard for key binding because of it.
On top of virtually limitless color customization options, the Corsair Gaming K95 RGB is a tactile keyboard made up of 100 percent Cherry MX Red key switches. These key switches are great because they are perfectly spaced out with wide actuation. This helps each key to become clearly defined beneath my fingertips so that I never have to second-guess which key I am pressing. The linear and smooth key response is tactile, audible and clear, allowing me to be sure that I pressed it the right amount of times for both double and triple taps in order to carry out certain moves. The pressing action, though mechanical, is smooth and flawless and feels totally natural.
The Corsair Gaming K95 RGB features 18 G-keys that I can assign specific macros to in a dedicated location to the left of my WASD hand, which makes hopping over to press the G-keys effortless. It didn’t take me long to memorize their positions, and now I am a faster and more efficient gamer because of it. If that wasn’t more than enough reason to assign macros, the Corsair Gaming K95 RGB is also able to allow me to set up any key on the entire keyboard to have macros. It features control panel software that makes setting them up simple and effortless, saving me time so that I can get back in the game. These unlimited macros truly give me a competitive edge no matter whether I am playing a first-person shooter or an MMORPG all the same.
Beautiful RBG Animation
The Corsair Gaming K95 RGB even comes with a strikingly beautiful and dazzling light show option. This keyboard features fluid, swift and fantastically visual RBG animation abilities. It uses a Panasonic display controller that allows me to choose between a cascading, waving or pulsing line of colors in any scheme or palette that I choose. This serves as a great bit of decoration in my game room when I am not actively using my computer for gaming. I also sometimes turn it on when I am using my computer for casual internet usage and word document creations just because it is so neat to watch and is surprisingly not too distracting.
Finally, the Corsair Gaming K95 RGB has really thought of everything. Not only do I enjoy gaming on my PC, I use it for a number of different applications, just like everyone else… even if most of my time is admittedly spent with my headset on. The Corsair Gaming K95 RGB features dedicated multimedia keys that are simple to access and are found resting overtop of the number pad on the right-hand side of the keyboard. Whenever I watch movies, TV or listen to music, I can control the volume of the audio. I can also press play, pause, stop and skip whenever I want to without having to go into the program that is playing the audio or video and manually adjust it in there. This is a truly efficient keyboard for any task you want to carry out.
- 100 percent Cherry MX key switches; tactile and audible
- 18 G-keys for macro assignment
- Ability to assign any macros to any key on the keyboard
- Cascading, pulsing or waving RBG animation using Panasonic remote
- Multimedia keys for playing, pausing, audio volume and skipping tracks of music
- Unique backlight customization; assign a different color to each key, perfect for identifying where certain key binds are located
- Wide actuation between keys
- Price. The Corsair Gaming K95 RGB is definitely one of the more expensive gaming keyboards that I will be reviewing, but it is more than worth it. Never have I seen so many customization options when it comes to assigning and defining macros, nor have I seen such awesome color options for a single keyboard. As a bonus, it is a tactile keyboard, so in my opinion, this is well worth the investment and might be one of the best gaming keyboards for the money.
SteelSeries Apex M800
Top Features of the SteelSeries Apex M800
Built for Speed
The SteelSeries Apex M800 Gaming Keyboard has been built with speed in mind. This company was inspired by the ever popular, original Apex keyboard and the way it functioned. The inspiration is quite evident in this design as it is an exceptionally fast gaming keyboard much like the original Apex itself. This keyboard features fast reacting switches that instantly work without any sort of lag. The low profile design is built in such a way that it cuts down on the travel distance of my fingers for a quicker reaction time. The keyboard is built at an exceptionally low angle that is ergonomic and comfortable. This, combined with the short travel distance makes for quick transitions between each individual key without ghosting. It also allows for significantly less fatigue in my fingers, no matter how fast and enthusiastically I am playing. The SteelSeries Apex M800 also includes dual processors that I will get to in just a moment.
The SteelSeries Apex M800 also provides an incredible number of ways for me to customize it, down to the finest detail. I can create advanced macros all across the keyboard and choose custom lighting schemes that make my SteelSeries Apex M800 truly unique to only me. The keyboard also comes with in-game integration and LEDs that are entirely customizable. This keyboard features a centered LED and clear switch house that provides me with new keys in which I can light up in any number of the 16.8 million colors that this keyboard makes available to me. It also features 8 unique brightness levels that I can adjust to personalize my keyboard in different light settings or to simply control how prominent the lights of my keyboard are according to my preferences.
Impressively enough, the SteelSeries Apex M800 comes with its very own processors! No longer do I have to worry about taking up space on my actual, main CPU with my keyboard functions, no matter how small of a space that they take up in the grand scheme of things. Now, my computer’s processor is completely dedicated to the game that I am currently playing to make it run just that much more smoothly and efficiently. This dedicated processor works to only process my key presses. Gone are the days of lag that can make or break a match. Because of these processors, I also don’t have to worry about ghosting. The SteelSeries Apex M800 comes with N-Key rollover that allows for an astounding 256 key presses all at once with no issues should it come to that–which it never will, but that is still very reassuring. Regardless, I never have to worry about accidentally missing a key while in game, no matter what. This is the best gaming keyboard in terms of power!
Convenient Cable Placement
With the SteelSeries Apex M800 comes a unique cable management routing portion that goes directly underneath the keyboard. This is an incredibly useful and thoughtful feature, as oftentimes keyboard, headset, and mouse cables like to intertwine at the most inconvenient of times. I can just neatly tuck them away now and clear off my desk with ease. The SteelSeries Apex M800 also comes with a built-in USB 2.0 hub as well that is worth mentioning.
Last but not least, the SteelSeries Apex M800 comes with dedicated quick access keys for macros. There are six of these in total and they are located on the left of the keyboard. This makes my already-active left hand on the WASD keys be able to swiftly and easily glide over to the quick access keys seamlessly so that I never miss a beat. This provides me with a definite competitive edge with all of those macros at my fingertips. What is even better is the fact that the SteelSeries Apex M800 can be completely key bound. Yes, all of the keys on this powerful keyboard feature the ability to bind macros to them. This gives me a virtually limitless possibility of macro combinations so that I am always ready with the right actions or spells on hand in the heat of battle.

Razer Ornata Chroma
Top Features of the Razer Ornata Chroma
The Razer Ornata Chroma Keyboard features a really impressive way to completely customize the way that it looks. If I ever get bored with my keyboard’s appearance, I have virtually limitless options in terms of colorizing it and changing it up. The Razer Ornata Chroma Keyboard features a full spectrum of 16.8 million customizable colors for me to choose from. I can opt for a single color to take over my entire keyboard, or I can choose a number of different ones for a rainbow effect or any combination in between. Not only does this keep my keyboard looking fresh, I can also sync it up with my games to create interactive effects. The lights on my keyboard will respond to things happening in the game which in turn provides me with a more immersive experience, bringing my gameplay to the next level.
One of the most memorable aspects of the Razer Ornata Chroma is the inter-device synchronization capabilities. If you are anything like me, it is likely that you have multiple devices powered by the same brand. And, if you don’t, it’s likely that you wish you did. If you want to integrate all of your devices, the perfect place to start is the Razer Ornata Chroma keyboard. This keyboard allows me to pick out either a single color or a spectrum of colors to light up my keyboard, as mentioned before. Whatever I choose to light my keyboard up with, I can sync it up with all of my other Razer Chroma devices for a sleek, coordinated and stylish look. This means getting the same brilliant colors across my entire set up–my headset, mouse and mouse mat liven up and create a true sight to see. This really adds a nice touch to my game room.
Convenient Key Features
On top of the spectacular visual effects, the Razer Ornata Chroma Keyboard features a 10-key rollover mechanism. This makes it so that I never have to worry about missing a beat or missing any key. I can actually perform up to 10 different actions or spells at the exact same time which has really made me more efficient. Thanks to the anti-ghosting technology in the Razer Ornata Chroma Keyboard, I truly feel as if I have gained a remarkable competitive edge. I no longer have to fumble to press all of the keys that I need to press in rapid enough of a succession in order to achieve the goal I am aiming for. I can do it all at once! These keys are also fully programmable, allowing me to key bind every key on the Razer Ornata Chroma Keyboard. By taking advantage of these macro capabilities, the anti-ghosting, 10-key rollover feature is even more convenient.
Best of Both Worlds
The Razer Ornata Chroma Keyboard also features a combination of the comfortable, soft-cushioned touch that comes with a membrane dome with the audible, tactile, crisp feeling of mechanical keys to ensure comfortable, yet swift and precise keyboard actions. These keys are also mid-height, perfect for faster actuation. These are shorter than standard mechanical keys in order to make finding the next key easily but not too short where it would be easy to mistype and miss an important stroke. I love the uniqueness of this feature and it is something that I do not think that I have seen with any other gaming keyboard.
Ergonomic and Comfortable
Finally, I want to mention how utterly comfortable the Razer Ornata Chroma Keyboard is. When I play for long time periods, my hands and wrists always start to hurt and to cramp up. Marathons will do that, and it’s a small price to pay for all the fun that I have. That said, with the Razer Ornata Chroma Keyboard, I do not have to worry about this issue anymore! The Razer Ornata Chroma Keyboard has taken into account the long hours that we gamers spend with our hands all but glued to our keyboard and mouse. This keyboard features an ergonomic wrist rest that has been specially designed for the Razer Ornata Chroma Keyboard specifically. No matter how long I play for, this keyboard provides me with extended comfort the entire night through.
- 10-key anti-ghosting rollover mechanism
- 16.8 million customizable lighting options; single or multi-colored
- Audible click response from keys
- Colors sync up with Razer Chroma headsets, mice, and mouse pads for total integration
- Ergonomic wrist rest for marathon gaming
- In-game integration delivers an interactive and immersive experience
- Keys are a combination of soft-touch membrane keyboards and mechanical tactile keyboards
- Macro assignments for all keys on the Razer Ornata Chroma Keyboard
- Medium height to ensure optimum actuation
- No USB ports on the keyboard. Something I did notice about the Razer Ornata Chroma Keyboard is the fact that, unlike some other gaming keyboards, this one does not come with any type of USB port whatsoever. While it is convenient to have, I do not think they are necessary to implement onto the keyboard. My PC comes with plenty of them for me to use whenever I want, so this is hardly a downside. I know some of you reading this review might be interested to know that, so for the sake of providing an honest review, I felt that this was worth mentioning.
Das Keyboard 4 DASK4MKPROSIL
Top Features of the Das Keyboard 4 DASK4MKPROSIL
Cherry MX Brown Mechanical Key Switches
Having mechanical keys while gaming is nearly a must. Mechanical keys make it so that everything I press is easily heard and easily felt. This allows me to avoid mistyping at a crucial moment during a game which might potentially cost me the match. That said, with mechanical keys, not all of them are made equally. While any mechanical key is better than a standard membrane keyboard when it comes to gaming, the Das Keyboard 4 DASK4MKPROSIL features Cherry MX Brown key switches that are as well made, as they are beautiful to look at. These Cherry MX Brown key switches are made with golden contacts and the keys feature a soft, tactile bump approximately halfway through each key press. They call this Soft Pressure Point Technology, and it makes the mechanical keyboard give off less of a clicky sound while still retaining the tactile feel. Some gamers are not a fan of the sounds that mechanical keyboards can make, so if you are one of them, this keyboard is for you.
Dedicated Media Controls
Like many of you, I’m sure, not only do I use my keyboard for gaming, I use it to complete a number of other tasks, too. From standard internet browsing and word documentation to things such as listening to music and watching TV, my computer is essentially a catch-all with my entertainment and when I am at home, it is pretty much guaranteed that you will find me in front of it. The Das Keyboard 4 DASK4MKPROSIL takes this into account seamlessly and has integrated a dedicated media control section. I can adjust the volume of my music, movies, or Skype calls with just the click of a button. I can also press mute, pause, play and skip backwards on my songs or move forward, whatever I am in the mood for. The volume knob is oversized to ensure easy access to the volume, even when I am busy in game.
Two-Port USB 3.0 Hub
Something that I know is important to a lot of us who game on our PCs is the ability to access a USB port on our keyboards. It shaves time off of having to reach over and find the hubs that are on our computers themselves, fumbling in the dark in an effort to plug in our mice if they get unplugged or to set up our headsets to get ready for gaming. Not only does the Das Keyboard 4 DASK4MKPROSIL come with a USB port, this port is a USB 3.0 port. These kinds of USB ports are exceptionally fast. I can transfer videos in a flash. I can move high-resolution pictures and huge videos as quickly as an impressive 5 gigabytes per second. This is a speed that is ten times faster than a standard USB port, but it is still backwards compatible with all USB types that came before the 3.0. The USB on the Das Keyboard 4 DASK4MKPROSIL really does so much more beyond gaming capabilities.
Attention to Detail
With the Das Keyboard 4 DASK4MKPROSIL, no stone has gone unturned when it comes to the design. While this keyboard does not feature an abundance of lights to choose from like many others do, it has been designed beautifully in its own right. It has a sleek, anodized aluminum top panel, a magnetically attached ruler and footbar, a resonance-free bottom enclosure that hugs tight to the desk and is finished off with an aluminum bottom label that has been laser engraved to give it a beautiful finishing touch. All of these work together to give the Das Keyboard 4 DASK4MKPROSIL a handsome visual appeal and a more responsive feel when typing.
Laser Etched Key Inscriptions
Speaking of the design of the keyboard, the Das Keyboard 4 DASK4MKPROSIL features unique laser etched key inscriptions. This keyboard comes with such inscriptions in order to resist fading like so many other keyboards of its kind tend to do after excessive usage, which is generally hard to avoid as a gamer. The key cap on the Das Keyboard 4 is in an easy-to-read font, delivering a sleek, legible keypad that does not distract or draw in any sort of unnecessary attention. I like that the keyboard stays close to the roots of the original style of keyboards, making me reminiscent of my old school gaming days.
- Cherry MX Brown mechanical key switches
- Dedicated media controls
- Detailed design
- Old style keyboard with legible, laser etched key inscriptions
- The key switches. While the keys found on the Das Keyboard 4 are indeed mechanical and tactile, they feature a soft touch function that provides a sort of bump halfway through the press. This is intentional and is designed to give gamers that tactile feel without providing the clicking sound. Some of us enjoy that sound, while others hate it, so this is not necessarily a downside, but it is something to consider before purchasing the Das Keyboard 4.
G.SKILL RIPJAWS KM780R
Top Features of the G.SKILL RIPJAWS KM780R
Mechanical 100 Percent Cherry MX Blue Switches
One of the most important aspects of any gaming computer is going to be the mechanical keyboard. When I am searching for the best gaming keyboard for me, this kind of keyboard is high on the priority list. The G.SKILL RIPJAWS KM780R gaming keyboard delivers me a mechanical keyboard in the form of Cherry MX Blue key switches. These key switches feature a very short actuation distance of only 2 millimeters, making travel time for my fingers between the two of them virtually nothing. These keys also will perform up to an impressive 50 million keystrokes to ensure a long life and a punctual gaming response. Within the Cherry MX family, the blue type of key switch provides excellent tactile feedback and that audible click that many gamers love, making the G.SKILL RIPJAWS KM780R a great choice for those who enjoy classic mechanical-style keyboards with an upgraded look.
Fully Programmable Keys
The G.SKILL RIPJAWS KM780R features the ability to program every single key on its face. I can choose to assign an individual key a single action or spell for quick use in the game. I can also choose to instead assign complex macros to any number of keys so that I can perform intricate moves with the push of a button instead of having to hurry and press several in a row to achieve the same effect. The G.SKILL RIPJAWS KM780R also allows me to provide independent backlighting and light patterns on each key for customization. Along with being able to program the keys, there are 6 dedicated macro keys that give me an even broader range of control. These keys can be found on the left-hand side of the keyboard for WSAD-finger convenience.
Great for Standing out at LAN Parties
Once I have chosen my actions, macros, and colors and assigned them to their locations on my keyboard, I never have to do it again unless I want to change things up. The G.SKILL RIPJAWS KM780R allows me to set up three separate sets of profiles, or modes, as they call them. I can choose my macro, lighting and key configurations on the keyboard and set them up in a profile. Once I have chosen three different and unique configurations that I plan to use frequently, this gaming keyboard will remember it indefinitely. When I want to change the profiles again, it doesn’t take any time at all, so this really is a keyboard that allows virtually endless profile and macro compatibility. This makes the G.SKILL RIPJAWS KM780R an excellent choice for toting over to a friend’s house for a LAN marathon as I do not have to worry about spending time once I get there trying to hurry to reassign everything before the game begins.
Another awesome feature of the G.SKILL RIPJAWS KM780R is the fact that it supports full N-Key rollover. I do not ever have to worry about ghosting and miss clicking with this keyboard which makes me more accurate in the game. This also allows me to execute any number of actions all at once on the G.SKILL RIPJAWS KM780R, both with the keys and with the dedicated macro key section on the left side of the keyboard. With this function, switching out profiles is simple and quick as well. It takes me mere seconds to transform my keyboard into a completely new set of functions and macros, and even the color of the keyboard itself. This may be the best gaming keyboard for instant customization.
Media Control Corner
Finally, the G.SKILL RIPJAWS KM780R comes with a full media display corner. This is a neat little set up that comes complete with full media control buttons such as play, pause, forward skip and backward skip. It has a die-cast volume roller for simple access even while engaged in a game as well as integrated LED volume display. This is perfect for on-keyboard control over Skype calls, watching movies, listening to music and so much more. This keyboard is awesome in the way that it not only takes into account the gaming needs of its users but their other media needs as well.
- 100 Percent MX Cherry Blue Switches
- 2-millimeter actuation
- 6 dedicated macro keys on the left side of the keyboard
- Ability to create three dedicated, unique profiles
- Audible and tactile feedback mechanical keyboard
- Can outlast 50 million keystrokes to ensure a long life
- Fully programmable keys for macros
- Media control station with full controls including play, pause, stop, volume, and forward/backward skip
- No extra keycaps. The G.SKILL RIPJAWS KM780R MX Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, unlike some other gaming keyboards, does not include any free, additional keycaps should one come off. I do not consider this much of a downside because the keys on this gaming keyboard were definitely meant to last! Not only are they built to withstand up to 50 million keystrokes, I have already put them through excessive wear and they have shown no sign of slowing down. For this reason, I am not concerned with additional keycaps.
Logitech G610 Orion
Top Features of the Logitech G610 Orion
Cherry MX Family Mechanical Keys
The Logitech G610 Orion comes complete with the all-important mechanical keyboard that I am always seeking out. In order to play at my most efficient level, I need both the tactile feel of a mechanical keyboard as well as the audible response. With these two in tow, I don’t ever have to wonder if I hit the correct keys; I can play my games with confidence without ever having to glance down at my keyboard. This makes it so that I don’t ever misclick when I begin engaging my keys quickly in the heat of a battle. If I do mess up, it could cost me the game. The Logitech G610 Orion comes with the well-loved Cherry MX key switches that last much longer than standard rubber dome switches. These can endure up to 50 million keystrokes, promising a long life for me with this gaming keyboard. The linear and smooth responses make these keys perfect for rapid firing double and triple taps.
Full Media Controls
On top of gaming, I like to spend my time at my computer for a multitude of reasons. While it is true that most of my time in front of my PC is spent playing my favorite games with my friends, a lot of my time is dedicated to other media endeavors as well. I use my computer for the purpose of streaming video, music, and using services like Skype. With the Logitech G610 Orion, I have simple access to a full spectrum of dedicated media controls. These even work for gaming and allow me to control the background music I have going during my games without ever tabbing out of it. The Logitech G610 Orion comes with pause, play, and mute functions that put me in control of my audio. There is a roller bar that lets me skip to the next track or adjust the volume with ease.
Personalize with Macros
Another important feature that I look for in my gaming keyboards is the ability to assign macros with ease. Macros and other key binds are imperative to my efficiency, and if I do not have those, I have to spend extra time fumbling to press a number of buttons in succession in order to perform the single action that the press of a key would normally provide. The Logitech G610 Orion allows me to customize the F1-F12 keys at the top of the keyboard by assigning macros to them. It also allows me to change the lighting for every key which makes navigating my macros even simpler. If I want, I can turn off certain keys automatically when I enter a game which helps me to not accidentally click a button that might start up another program or throw me out of my game in another way. I’ve noticed that the game mode on this keyboard automatically disables the Windows key for me, too.
Customizable Key Lighting
Since I mentioned the ability to assign keys briefly a moment ago, I want to expand on that just a bit. The Logitech G610 Orion allows me to choose my level of customization down to a tee. I can light up the keys in any color or order that I need them to, assigning different colors to different actions, spells or macros in order for me to keep track of which is which with a simple glance down at my keyboard. I am also able to customize the brightness levels of each individual light to make some more prominent than others or to simply tone down the brightness altogether as not to make the Logitech G610 Orion too distracting while gaming. The included Logitech Software also allows me the ability to sync up these colors and light patterns with any of the other Logitech G units that I might own which is awesome.
- Adjustable brightness levels
- Cherry MX mechanical key switches with audible and tactile responses
- Choose to disable certain keys while in the game; the Windows key automatically disables in game mode
- F1 – F12 buttons are dedicated macro buttons
- Full media controls: pause, play, mute, skip tracks and turn the volume up or down without ever leaving the game screen
- Macros can be assigned to any key
- Personalization for each button in terms of macros and lighting
- Will outlast up to 50 million keystrokes
- No USB passthrough. The Logitech G610 Orion Red Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard does not have dedicated inputs or outputs, not even for a USB. Instead, it has one single braided USB cable that works to connect this gaming keyboard to the computer, but that’s it. As stated before, I don’t consider this a downside as there are plenty of available USB ports on my PC, but some might want to know about this feature or lack thereof.
Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2
Top Features of the Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2
Created to Last
The Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2 is a great gaming keyboard for those who like to protect their investments as I do. I don’t want to drop a lot of cash on something that is going to give out, and with the Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2, I do not have to concern myself with that. This keyboard gives me outstanding performance and reliability constantly. I have used it excessively since I got it and it has not once shown signs of weakness. The Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2 is actually built to withstand a lifespan of up to an impressive 80 million keystrokes, which is an average of 50 million more keystrokes than many of the other gaming keyboards out there on the market. This is one of the best gaming keyboards in terms of longevity for sure.
Razer Chroma Technology
One of the things that Razer is known for is its unique Razer Chroma technology, which has been utilized in the Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2. This mechanical gaming keyboard comes equipped with approximately 16.8 million customizable color options for me to choose from in order to totally and completely personalize it. I am able to choose from preloaded lighting effects that this company has pre-programmed if I so choose, as these have been given in order to allow easy customization choices for those who don’t like to tinker. I also have the ability to program my own unique colors in any number of ways. Through this method, the Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2 can look like a completely different keyboard each and every day if I should choose to have it that way. Whatever I pick, I know that my keyboard is going to be absolutely unique to only me.
Once I have chosen the colors, preset or personalized, that I prefer for my Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2, I can sync them up to all of the rest of my Razer Chroma capable gear. This means that I get to enjoy a streamlined look of unique, vivid hues throughout, not only my keyboard, but my headset, mouse and even my mouse pad that all match up with one another. This gives my game room a beautiful appearance and lets my gaming gear feel unique to my unique sense of style. I often choose to light them up in my guild colors when I am playing an MMO just to become more immersed, and when I am playing first-person shooters, I will light them up in my team colors. The options are endless and it really is a lot of fun to play around with.
The Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2 is a great keyboard for those who often make misclicks. As you know, miss clicking in the heat of battle can often result in losing the match entirely, making it important that you are pressing the exact keys that you need every time. For me, anti-ghosting technology can make or break my opinion on a good gaming keyboard, so having that available in the Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2 is wonderful. This keyboard comes with a 10-key rollover that allows it to register up to ten keys at a time so that I can perform complicated motions while never missing a beat. This serves to make me more efficient in game, and if I do happen to click one key when I meant to click another, it is of no consequence!
Ergonomic and Comfortable
Finally, the Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2 is exceptionally comfortable. They have truly taken into account how much strain can be placed on the hand and on the wrist during long hours of marathon gaming and have compensated for that. The Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2 features an ergonomic wrist rest that provides excellent padding and support. This wrist rest is designed specifically to fit this keyboard so no matter how I have my hand positioned anywhere on it, it provides exemplary support. I have noticed a serious decrease in my hand fatigue levels since using this keyboard because of it.
- 10 key rollover
- Anti-ghosting technology
- Audible mechanical keyboard with tactile feel
- Ergonomic wrist support
- Inter-device synchronization for illuminating headset, mouse, and keyboard seamlessly
- A lifespan of up to 50 million keystrokes
- Razer Chroma technology with over 16.8 billion color selections
- Price. The Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2, Clicky Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is definitely one of the higher priced gaming keyboards that I have reviewed. While this may be considered a drawback to some, it is jam-packed with so many features and such a great level of efficiency that I think that it is worth every penny. The Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2, Clicky Mechanical Gaming Keyboard features incredible customization options with the ability to assign macros and colors to all of the keys, featuring over 16.8 billion colors to choose from. Ghosting is a thing of the past with this keyboard, and I truly think the price is reasonable for what it can do.
HyperX Alloy FPS
Top Features of the HyperX Alloy FPS
Perfect for First Person Shooters
Many gaming keyboards are often optimized for MMOs and MMORPGs that utilize a lot of unique functions such as items and spells. While these are perfectly suitable for use with first-person shooter games, there are not very many that are optimized specifically for first-person shooters. The HyperX Alloy FPS gaming keyboard is different in that regard. It has been designed with first-person shooter games in mind. This keyboard features a layout that saves plenty of space on my desktop for mouse movement, which is something that a lot of MMOs don’t often focus on, so this is a really nice feature. Even though it has a slim design that is meant to save all of that space, it does not sacrifice on functionality or performance in order to do so; however, what the HyperX Alloy does do is make it super easy to take on the go, making this an excellent gaming keyboard for taking to LAN marathons.
Audible, Tactile Mechanical Keys
If I am given the option over quiet, soft membrane keys and loud, audible tactile keys, I am always going to go for the latter. Mechanical keyboards just seem to be more efficient for me as I can hear and feel every single movement that I make. Because of this, I always seek out mechanical keyboards to put to the test, and the HyperX Alloy FPS did not fail me. This gaming keyboard comes with Cherry MX mechanical keys that are well loved by gamers all around. They are built with impeccable quality and durability, promising high precision key contact using the gold contacts found beneath the keycaps. These mechanisms work together to provide up to 50 million keystrokes per switch. Even after my own exhaustive usage of the HyperX Alloy FPS, I have not noticed a single key that is even thinking about becoming weak.
100 Percent Anti-Ghosting
Another thing that I do not have to worry about with the HyperX Alloy FPS is accidentally pressing the wrong key. With this keyboard, miss clicking is a thing of the past which makes me a more confident and efficient gamer overall. The HyperX Alloy FPS features a full N-key rollover that lets me press multiple keys simultaneously while still delivering swift and accurate results with no lag. A cool feature about this keyboard is that the Windows key automatically disables when I enter game mode, which is a great thing for it to do considering I often accidentally press that pesky key accidentally.
Emphasis Placed on WSAD Keys
Another first-person shooter centric facet of the HyperX Alloy FPS is the fact that the keyboard highlights the WSAD keys in two different ways. While this still is going to be useful for other genres and styles of gameplay, I find that it is especially great for first-person shooter types. The WSAD keys on the HyperX Alloy come in a vivid, impossible to miss red that is vibrant and striking. Not only are these keys differently colored from the rest of the keyboard, but they also have an added texture that enhances the feel of them so that I can always find my movement keys. To finish it off, a keycap removal key came included with this keyboard so that I can easily replace these keys in the event that something happens.
Adjustable Backlit Keys
The WSAD movement keys are not the only keys that are shown off on the HyperX Alloy FPS. The entire keyboard can be given a nice backlight. All I have to do is choose from one of the six LED preset modes. One of these modes is a custom mode that allows me to personalize this backlight to suit the rest of my set up or to simply go along with my mood that day. This backlight allows me to confidently play in the dark as I can still easily see everything that I am doing. There are five brightness levels that I can adjust as well, making the HyperX Alloy FPS perfect for gaming both in the daytime and at night with one having just as much efficiency and ease of use as the other.
- Adjustable backlight for the whole keyboard
- Cherry MX keys with gold contacts
- Perfectly sized to provide plenty of room for mouse movement during FPS games
- Six preset LED backlight modes
- Tactile, audible mechanical keys
- WSAD movement keys are both textured and vividly colored red
I have chosen the Corsair Gaming K95 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard as the winner of this review. This gaming keyboard allows me the ability to choose a color for every key which makes locating key binds a breeze. It has audible and tactile Cherry MX switches with wide actuation between keys. There are 18 dedicated macro keys on the left and a number of animated colors that cover the keyboard when I want it to. This is a great gaming keyboard for those who enjoy form as much as they enjoy function!
Benefits of Buying a Gaming Keyboard
– Macro assignment. Gaming keyboards offer designated macro assignment keys that allow you to assign spells, items, and actions, or a combination of the three, to a set of clearly marked keys that are often on the left-hand side of the keyboard. The positioning gives you easy access to slide your WSAD controlling fingers over to easily tap them, saving you a lot of keystrokes to get the same effect in game.
– Anti-ghosting technology. Avoiding misclicks when gaming is a must, and gaming keyboards take that into consideration. They often incorporate anti-ghosting technology along with N-key rollovers to ensure that even if you do end up pressing more than one button at a time, you are not paying the price for it on the screen. In fact, this mechanism allows you to intentionally press more than one key to execute a number of actions all at once.
– Customization. A gaming keyboard usually comes with the ability to customize it almost fully. Some keyboards allow you to change the lighting of the keys down to each specific key, while others allow you to adjust a defined color backlight depending on the light levels.
Factors to Consider Before Buying a Gaming Keyboard
– Consider buying a gaming keyboard that features a wrist rest. If you are a marathon gamer, you know the pain and strain that happens upon your wrists and fingers from holding them in a largely fixed position for hours on end. By choosing a gaming keyboard with an ergonomic design, you can alleviate some of that uncomfortable problem while playing.
– Decide whether you prefer mechanical keys, membrane keys or a mixture of both. It is all a matter of preference, of course, but opting for the key style that you are most comfortable playing with will up your chances of playing a more efficient match.
