Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum Gaming Mouse Review

When playing your favorite games, the mouse plays a huge factor. It determines how you’ll maneuver, aim, and control your characters throughout the game. While a regular mouse would work, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage.

Gaming requires a lot of scrolling, movement, and clicking. If you’re planning to get a gaming mouse, it needs to perform at a high level for a long time. Doing this will prevent you from spending money regularly on replacements.

With the Logitech G502, you’ll have a mouse that solves those issues. And in this review, we’ll help you see if this gaming mouse is the right one for you.

Let’s start!

Logitech G502 Proteus

Features:

  • Comfortable and intuitive design
  • Improved scroll wheel
  • Large buttons on a smart layout
  • Resolution: 200 – 1200 DPI
  • RGB Customizable Lighting

Overview:

The G502 has 11 buttons all optimized for gaming. You have your standard right-, left-, and middle click buttons. But it also has other features such as two index finger buttons, two buttons accessed by tilting the scrolling wheel.

While the mouse is short, it is comfortable for claw grip gamers. It has a teal-accented thumb rest that is placed on the side. This allows you to relax your thumb on the side instead of resting on the edges of the mouse. You’ll have fewer cramps in your hands after using the mouse for long gaming stretches.

Customizing your profiles is simple. Just click a command and place it on the button. The software will register the new command and applies it to the profile as soon as the game launches.

Under the scrolling wheel are two buttons: the bottom button allows you to select through 3 different profiles you can create from the Logitech Gaming Software. The dual-mode scrolling feature is good for precision scrolling, and you can click it in three different directions (right, left, middle).

Gaming for extensive hours requires a mouse that can keep up with it. In each game we’ve used the G502, it was precise, accurate, and responsive. Using the extra buttons were useful, and weren’t too overbearing.

Logitech G502 ProteusThe Logitech G502 has a sensor ranging from 200 to 1200 DPI. The sensor is amazing, and Logitech allows users to get a calibrate the sensor using their software. It’s powered by a 32-bit microcontroller, and you can change it via pressing the dpi down, up, and the shift buttons to lower the sensitivity whenever needed.

That’s not the only customization option that’s available to you. Underneath the mouse is a compartment where you can attach five 3.6g weights. The G502’s diamond pattern allows you to shift the weight on all sides of the device.

The G-Series Logo shows the only LED portions of the mouse. It is limited to two effects (Breathing, a pulse-like effect through one color. And Color Cycle which goes through the entire color spectrum).

Don’t worry about running out of colors. The Logitech G502 has RBG customizable lighting feature, which gives you access to over 16.8 million colors. You’ll find it easier to use this gaming mouse to match your environment and mood.

Speaking of environments, the Logitech G502‘s software allows it to adapt to any surface. First, you use the mouse to scan a surface. Then it will calibrate itself and react as if it’s on a mousepad. It’s interesting technology, and it works well on most occasions.

When used on a surface pad, the G502 feels precise and responsive. This is due to its 1,000 Hz refresh rate. So, you won’t have any issues with response lag on your end. It’s a responsive mouse that’s designed to help you aim better.

We also like the two options for conducting macro preferences: either make a custom set up on the three profiles or make them on a per-game basis. Making the custom macro might take some time, but it’s preferable if you’re playing three different games in one night.

There are two forms of mouse options when using the G502. While the smooth scrolling option might be a good idea for browsing the web, the click-to-click option is for switching weapons for action games such as Fortnite and Team Fortress 2.

Positives
  • 11 programmable buttons
